Found this little beauty if you can call it that - good to see that David did not take to badly to being rejected as one of Santa's little helpers only to find work in other "exciting" areas Laughing

You can download it from Sunday and buy it from Monday - come on you know you want too! Wonder how much will go to the tax man? And will BigL be the first (and last) to play it on air???

I am sure that they will. I don't think that there is as much anti Mike Read feeling as some would like to think.

OR was your comment a bit tongue in cheek, Aja, with the winking avatar?

I guess the opinions about Mike Read differ or are pretty contradictive. Some think that he had let down BigL with his OneGold project and harmed the station that way others think he was one of the strongest and most loyal supporters of the BigL relaunch - The truth propably lies somewhere in the middle which I don't know.
In any case its a piece of music, its fun and there's also David Hamilton in it - so why not promoting it ?

I firmly believe that Mike Read gave his all and did an awful lot of good for Big L, it certainly wouldn't have been the same without him. It was sad to see that he ended up losing his entire record collection in the process.

I don't feel he let us down or deserted Big L when he came up with his One Gold Project. I think he took Big L as far as he could and just kept coming up against a brick wall.

One Gold isn't my cup of tea (although it's a good name for one Laughing ) and I'm not interested in any other station either, but I wish Mike, David, Adrian and the rest of the team all the best in their new venture.

As for the 'snide' comment I made on my show a few weeks ago, I'd have done just the same if Mike were still at Big L. Me and the Welsh Shepherd would often rib Mike about things because we knew he would see the funny side of it. He has a terrific sense of humour.

I believe Mike Read is a great DJ and as Chirpy has said did much for the Station but that does not mean that he is also a great Manager or Decision taker, horses for courses , if I were a program controller I would happily have Mike presnting a morning show just like he did so well for BIGL

Chirpy its a bit early to make such sweeping comments that "One Gold isn't my cup of tea" when you haven't even heard anything except a short test via the internet.
Comments like that would be better kept until when & if it gets on the air then you & everyone will be in a position to comment. I am surprised that you can also decide that you are not interested and have to ask why that is or is merely because its not called Big L?

Sorry David, maybe I ought to elaborate.

When Radio 1 started up with all my favourite jocks from Radio London, I tuned into Radio Caroline and stayed there until they closed down the following year.

As I'm a Big L fan and quite satisfied with the music played, I have no reason to go elsewhere. That's one reason I've never bothered to buy an Internet radio.

Yes I have to agree re-Radio 1 I think I listened for about a couple of days then tuned back to Caroline until of course March 1968. In fact reception on 259 was also superior to that cr*p on 247.

I have an internet radio which I use for listening to Big L & other stations. Presume you listen to Big L via your PC then? Yes I can't complain about the music played on Big L but I have always tuned around as well. It will however be great having 1395 back on in the car again.

As for One Gold if it happens it has the potential to be far better than Radio 1 has ever been of course I would rather have all the Big L jocks back daytime but if OG were to come on & pay the daytime bills for 1395 that would be good news long term for Big L wouldn't it?

Actually David, yes of course, if One Gold were to share 1395 and use it in the daytime, I'd be listening in - unless Big L were on the Internet at the same time.

Yes, I listen via my computer which is connected up to my Bose Acoustic Wave Music System. Smile
