Hi Alec

Can't add to the reports on GS and DS as I only tend to be in Merseyside at weekends.
The tx location is on the Wirral a couple of miles south of Birkenhead town centre.
The picture seems to be that it is covering central Merseyside pretty well but not so strong elsewhere.

Thanks John -
It works on SW 6280 khz - e.g. via Twente (Enschede NL.) or Derby remote receiver :

Another option is www.shoutcast.com and simply enter Caroline North in the search box.
The output is still continuous '60s/'70s/'80s music with some Caroline North jingles including the bell.
I don't know why programmes haven't started, but knowing JD he will be working very hard to make it happen.

There seem to be technical and "political issues" Apparently Peter Moore of Radio Caroline as we know it from the Ross preservation and the Internet, is not at all happy with the RSL team. They supposedly didn't live up to agreements made.
Technically it shouldn't be as hard as they make out. It does make me happy with the sound technical setup of BigL and even we are not free from occasional glitches.

In general I don't see the point of wasting good money on a RSL today. A couple of watts on FM doesn't even come close to the power we were used to from the off-shore stations and they won't have any reach outside Liverpool. That way they forget the listeners on Isle of Man and Ireland who listened to Caroline North.

Had they put a good stream on the Internet, with the guys they've got lined up to present shows, it could have been a good tribute. It takes persistence to put on a good radio station 24/7. It's not glory everyday, but also hard work. They should have realised this beforehand.

I get confirmed time and again the BigL approach is the right one and I'm happy to be part of this team. To be honest there are a few others doing well, like Garry's RNI and Peter's Caroline.

Some interesting points there.
As it happens programmes commenced at 0900 today and there are still 25 days left!
I think the problems experienced show a certain similarity to those encountered by BigL during the times the 1395AM transmissions were being pursued in Holland.
I quickly became a fan of BigL when I started listening in late 2009 as it seemed to me the station must have people running and backing it who loved radio more than money.
This is also the case with those involved with Caroline North.
JD could have left the cash in his bank account and done nothing to celebrate the 50 years - yes it would have been preferable if things so far had gone smoother, but let's see what the remaining 25 days bring.
A webcam of the studio can be viewed at www.wirralcam.org/carolinenorth.shtml

I fully second your opinion, John !
at least they are a real radio-station with a Tx for the time being and they tried where others gave up ...

Hi Folks

I hope everyone is enjoying what Caroline North is trying to do - very much similar to BigL in that the jocks enjoy what they do and that passion being reflected on air.
Just a gentle reminder the ship is open to visitors daily until Apr 27th between 1000 and 1800 for a nominal charge of £1.
You can even pop into the studio and watch the jocks operating the original Gates Gateway mixer while checking incoming texts and emails
So if you are looking for a fun day out or city break, then look no further as Liverpool has a lot to offer.
Anyone travelling by rail - your nearest station is Liverpool James Street, literally a couple of mins from the ship.
