1503 and 1512 are pirate stations Alec.
In the middle of the summer, its for me not possible to receive sky wave signals.
It must be ground wave signals.

Theo

Thanks Theo,
according to frequency map 1512 and 1521 khz seem to be free frequencies in Europe - so why doesn't Marina broadcast on these frequencies where ther's nothing ?
Is Marina back on 1585 now ?

Copied this from Face-book:

Just been out to the Suffolk coast (Sizewell) this morning Marina making it well inland (Mid Suffolk), spoilt for choice this morning both Albatross TX sites fired up on 1566, 648 and Marina on 1485 KHz Just great one happy anorak.

1395 is strangely quiet here, nothing on the "Big Radio".

I tried again at 15:30. This time I had a reasonable signal of a presented Marina program. I traveled by car from Beesd to Culemborg and back at 17:30. This time 1485 was stronger than 1602.

Audio is very good. Music selection quite like Veronica used to play. Must be a Volendam thing

So now we have an off-shore station again. I must be repeating myself: amazing what 1kW can do.

Radio Marina audible on a 70s Grundig portable in NW Norfolk. Need to be near the window, upstairs and have BBC Humberside nulled out. Fortunately the direction of each transmitter makes this possible at my location. Not quite as strong as Waddenzee and fractionally off frequency so faint rumbling beat note in the backgroud.

The first link sounds very familiar to a Caroline listener during the late 70's! :D

Perhaps they would do better pirating above 1620 khz. Every night I can hear strong, clear signals from dutch pirates. Last night I counted eight.
Does anyone listen to these stations?
Although the signals are good, the content is not. Surely one station could put out decent programmes.
I think, therefore I am............ I think.

yes Radio Baron is covering whole Europe at night with a strong though fading signal on 1320 khz.(sometimes stronger than other Dutch official stations) - but the program is awful - terrible Dutch Schlager music and horrible moderation - always the same guy.
Radio Baron has been on the air on weekends for many years already - I really wonder why nothing had ever happened to it - he must have good connections....

Have you tried Radio Marina (1485 khz.) today - any reception at your place ?

A Dutch pirate was playing some fairly decent music and jingles last night on 1629. It was a massive signal with me just listening on a portable radio. Modulation was well processed and sounded really bright and punchy. Quality was equally as good as the licenced broadcasters and probably far better than most.

I do wonder how these guys get away with running such high power set-ups without any hassle from the authorities, but then again, they are on an unused part of the band and not really causing a problem to anyone. Guess most of the transmissions come from deep in the countryside where there are no neighbours to upset and therefore no complaints.

Couldn't see it happening over here though.
