I'm sure Theo tells the truth about the output, but I'm really flabbergasted how far that signal carries. I had a very pleasant signal today round 15:00 CET in Den Bosch on my car radio. If someone told me they had fired up the 15kW I would have believed him. Even at that level it would be good performance. I wish someone from Waddenzee would tell us how they do it. I even sent them an e-mail, but no response... :(

Thankyou all, I did!!

I've tried 1602.0 on the Big Radio a couple of times during the night with mixed results at one point the signal was up to about 40% bit not particularly good audio, now the meter is hardly moving and can hardly make anything out in amongst the "mush".

I'll try again tonight though.

To be honest, I don't really know! There was something there, just not sure what.

you may believe iot or not - I caught Radio Seagul last night twice in Salzburg (Austria) first in my car arround 23:00h and later on my Coffee-shop trany in the house. The station ID came thru loud and clear but then it faded away against a Spanish station and an Italian station to come back after a few minutes and to fade away again - of course it was poor anorak-quality - but it came through !!!
I only wonder if the signal came from the JennyBaynton or from the land-Tx (??)

I also caught pretty clearly "Gold" on 1548 khz.
10Gold on 828 khz. with a lot of fading (propably power was already down to 5 KWs ?) - this German station came through...
Radio 538 on 891 khz - pretty stable in good annorack-quality
1395 khz. - sorry John Freeman - there was nothing. - Maybe MAR was off air already

Alec,

At the moment they are still coming from the Jenni Baynton. They are in the Harbour of Terschelling due to the Oerol festival. I have the impression that the signal from the ship is far superior than their land based setup. Yesterday afternoon I had a pleasant listen in the car driving past Den Bosch. Maybe conditions?

No Paul in summer you hardly have "special" AM conditions - I just assume that the output is a bit stronger than only 500 Watts - though for sure not 15 Kws - at least not at night.

Last night night I tried again to catch R. Seagul - but no success - maybe transmissions from the Jenny Banton are finished.
Gold on 1548 loud and clear again, same with Radio538.
Also Radio Baron on 1630 with awful Dutch Schlager came in
Radio 10Gold on 828 khz propably was down to 5 KWs already as reception was poor

I think you're right Alec. I also have trouble catching Waddenzee. Pitty really. The only off-shore station left and I can't hear it :(

yes but it was great to see how effective seawater is (if they really transmitted with only 500 Wats or 1 KW) - they always said that the transmissions from the JB were limited. - I think its also a question of costs to run the ship itself and the Tx from the ship opn 'high' sea. Remains the question about their plans to rent transmitting possibilities to interested stations. - I asked them but haven't got an answer yet.

I have the same experience. Like another well know radio station they don't communicate with their listeners very well

I have sent them two reception reports, but got no acnowledgement in return :(
