There is nothing so inspiring as a radio ship at sea

I was alluding to the fact that this is the only remaining ship based radio in the world, and seeing a digital modern image is in deed inspiring!

RNI, and others, were fantastic ships, unfortunately before the digital age though, so quality a little low.

I wonder what this is all about?

http://www.radioseagull.com/news.html

I don't like to speculate to much but we know that Eric is looking for a new MW outlet and 15KW from the ship at sea would put a decent signal out??
THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE!

Apologies Richard .. I didn't notice that you'd started the speculation off down here in this "obscure" thread.
I've just posted something similar over on Garry's board, but credit to you for the initial information.

Alf

BTW, ever thought of getting a job presenting a DX news program .. I hear there is a bit of a gap in the market since the demise of 6205 on a Sunday morning.

So far I have not been successful listening to 1602 down here in the south of the Netherlands. Does anyone know if they are using the 15kW power?

Last year I've managed to catch 1602 (Seagull) even in Münster/Westfalia in Sept. last year during the morning hours ( - well autumn conditions were beginning then...)
As far as I understood - they want to start in June when the boattrips to the Jenny B. are done regularly - doesn't sound like as if they were planning to use the 15KWs themselves - I think the Tx is for renting to other stations on another frequency

On land 600 Watt carrier, and on the ship 500 Watt carrier.
